Essence of Chiang Mai Honeymoon Trip 6 Days / 5 Nights
ITINERARY :
Day 1 : Arrival Chiang Mai - Doi Suthep Temple – White Hmong – Doi Pui & Handicraft Village – Khan Toke Dinner (B/D) ( Private Tour )
After breakfast , check out and transfer to airport for departure flight to Chiang Mai . Upon arrival at Chiang Mai airport you’ll be welcomed by our representative and then transfer to hotel for check in .
After that we make our way to Wat Prathat Doi Suthep . The trip entails a pleasant 15 km. wildly driving up 3,500 feet above sea level to visit Wat Prathat Doi Suthep, the most sacred temple in the city. You then exercise your heart, lungs and limbs (perfect for couch potatoes and those with beer belly) by ascending the 306 steps to the temple, guarded by two magnificent Nagas (serpents) and constructed in 1383; this symbol of Chiang Mai contains the holy relic of the Lord Buddha which is enshrined in the magnificent, glowing golden pagoda. A bird’s eye view of the entire city and the surrounding areas can be seen from the temple grounds.Continue by local truck along a bumpy mountain road to visit the White Hmong hill tribe village. It’s a scenic route. Migrants from China who prefer to live in simple, isolated and self-sustaining villages while preserving their primitive culture, ancient customs and gorgeous embroidered costumes.
On the way down from the hill we also visit Meo Hill Tribe Village. They are descended from Southern China and generally have large family communities. Agriculture is their main means of income with crops such as corn, soya beans and rice being their staple diet. Doi Pui was once well known for its opium crops which thrived at 1,500 meters above sea level. Try the local cuisine for lunch and be amazed at the awesome flavors of the cuisine of this region. Lunch own option guide will recommend an authentic local restaurant .
Afterwards we will visit San Kamphaeng which is the centre of the cotton and silk industries. Learn how they make and weave these stunning fabrics into wonderful products. Visit Bor Sang, where paper umbrellas are manufactured and painted by hand. Next is Thai Celadon where superb ceramics are manufactured.
For hundreds of years these wares have been distributed all around the region. See craftsmen produce incredible silverware and lacquer ware products.
Late afternoon transfer to hotel for refreshment before dinner time
18.30hrs. : Pick up from hotel for Khan Toke Dinner ( join transfer SIC )
19.15hrs. : Welcome dinner with Northern traditional dinner “ Khan Toke “ . Relax in an informal atmosphere whilst dining on delicious Northern Thai Cuisine called “Khantoke” signifying a Pedestal Wooden or Rattan Tray used for serving food by Lanna Thai peple. The menu usually consists of "Gaeng Hang Lay" ( pork curry cooked with garlic, sliced ginger, peanuts and red chili paste), "Nam Prik Ong" (minced pork cooked with chopped garlic, onion and red chili paste), "Cab Moo" (crispy pork rind), deep fried chicken & banana, stir fried mixed vegetable and fresh & soft boiled vegetable. Among many choices, these dishes are eaten with "Kao Nieow" (sticky rice). Tuck in and eat to your heart’s content.
20.00hrs. During the meal, a Traditional Northern Musical ensemble will play soothing music
while charming dancers will entertain you with the Fingernail Dance, Dandle Dance, Sword Dance and Ramwong or Thai Dance. There’s also a selection of Hill Tribes Dances performed by the Akha, Yao, Lisu and Karen tribes rounds up this entertaining evening. At the end of the show if you get the urge, let’s join Ramwong Dance which’s great fun to try!
21.00hrs. : Transfer back to the hotel. Overnight in Chiang Mai
Day 2 : Full Day Eco Elephant Care Meung Kud Village with lunch ( B/L )

A wonderful day with an Elephant
Eco Elephant Care is a project that aims to improve the well- being of the elephants and increase the awareness of elephant conservation , The project was started by the local families in Meung Kud Village who has spent their whole lives , living and taking with the elephants .
You not be here to get entertained from the elephant but be here to see how the elephants live, no riding, just “free” elephants who eat, bath and go for small walks. You cloud feel how the elephants are enjoying life.
8.00-8.30hrs. : Pick up from your hotel and drive around 1.50hrs. to the north of Chiang Mai . Arrive at Eco elephant Care and Change into local traditional clothing .
Meet the elephant and Learn about elephant’s habits, history, communicate with the elephant through observing their body languages . Harvest Elephant Food such as Sugar Can, Grass, Banana Tree (Depend on the season) at Eco elephant Care farm Feed, Care,
Hug and Play with elephant . Enjoy your delicious Lunch
After lunch , earn about the traditional herb for take care the elephant and Hand-on making herbal ball and Feed to elephant . Walk with the elephant in their environment jungle to observe how they live healthy . Prepare the Native plant for scrub their skin and bath with the elephant .
Say Goodbye to the elephant. Change your cloth
Leave from Eco Elephant Care to Chiang Mai and drop off at your hotel at around 17.00hrs. Overnight in Chiang Mai
Day 3 : Full Day Chiang Rai & Golden Triangle Tour – Long Neck Hill Tribe ( B/L ) Join Tour SIC
07.00hrs. : Pick up by your guide and transfer to Chiang Rai Province First stop at Mae Kachan Hotspring . Continue to visit Wat Rong Khun well known as White Temple .
Wat Rong Khun is one of a considerable number of religious places in Chiang Rai. Originating from the great devotion of renowned Thai artist, Chalermchai Kosipipat the temple is dedicated to Lord Buddha with the intention to construct an attainable paradise on earth representing righteousness and the encouragement of good karma. With regard to outstanding quality in art and tremendously elaborate architecture, the consecrated assembly hall in Wat Rong Khun is different from any other temple in terms of having both carved gable apexes and tooth-like ridges. The hall itself is mostly constructed in pure white, illustrative of the Buddha’s purity. Glittering clear-mirrored glass serves as the Awakened One’s wisdom shining over the earth and the universe. Together with these elements, there are sophisticated murals by Chalermchai himself that should not be missed.
Proceed to Golden Triangle . the mystery land in the past related to the Drug Trade and War . Lunch at Local Restaurant .
After lunch, experience on boat riding on the Mighty Mae Khong River to visit Don Xao Island ( Lao’s Side, Passport Required) .
14.15hrs. : Drive up a small hill to a scenic point at Wat Pu Kao for a picturesque view over the Mekong River and the meeting point of 3 different countries ; Thailand – Laos – Myanmar
14.45hrs. : Then, take a short walk from the temple down to the Opium Museum where questions and curiosity about the Opium are replied. Opium Museum is a combination of multimedia and exhibition to make learning more fun. Aiming to educate people about opium, this exhibition portrays every angle of the story, starting from the history of the Golden Triangle, the origin of opium, the opium war, opium warlords, drug smugglers, opium effects, the battle against opium and poppy growing, to rehabilitation of living conditions of the people who live in the central of the Golden Triangle, the former worldwide infamous drug trading zone.
Visit Longneck Karen is one of Karen tribes. They call themselves Padaung. It is believed that originally they came from Yunnan Province, central China. Later in 1000 AD according to the history, they migrated to Salween River Basin in Myanmar. In 1995, there were approximately 25,000 Padaungs living in Myanmar. They mainly live on traditional agricultural activities. After political incident against the minorities in Myanmar, Padaungs have evacuated from Myanmar and until now cannot fully identify where is the major location they are living in. It is believed that they scattered all over the area and co-live with other minority group that armed so that they can be protected.
16.00hrs. : Head back to Chiang Mai.
20.45hrs. : Arrive and transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Chiang Mai
Day 4 : Relaxing day with Thai Spa & Wellness ( B )

Evening – Roaming in the walking street market to observe Thai lives how they live , what they eat . The best way to learn the local people is to see what the eat . . You may tasting an authentic local food with a various choice in the evening walking street .

Day 5 : Traditional Making Merit - half Day Baan Hongnaul Cookery School ( B/L )
Half Day Course 4 Dishes (3 main course + 1 Thai desert / snack)
07.00hrs. : Monks silently pace the street or river to receive offerings . it is understand that this is an opportunity for people to make merit . Making merit means doing good things as mentioned in Buddhist doctrine .
That way of life from birth until death is filled with merit making traditions and ceremonies.
07.30hrs. : Enjoy your delicious breakfast before cooking class .
09.00hrs. : Pick up at the hotel by an English instructor and being transferred by van to Nong Hoi local market. Spend about 40 minutes joining the group purchasing fresh ingredients (chicken, prawns, herbs & vegetables) for the class as well as learning to know about tropical
vegetations which’s quite interesting!
09.50hrs. : continue to Baan Hong Haul, situated on Chiang Mai –Lam Pang Road, only about 15 minutes away from the market.
10.15hrs. : Arrive and get briefly introduction of Baan Hong Nual which’s an open kitchen in Lanna Thai style. All students will be then given aprons and headdresses as cooking uniforms.
10.30hrs. : Wash hands and get yourself ready for the 1st menu. However, before you start cooking first of all you would be introduced about all the kitchen utensils as well as the seasonings normally needed in the Thai cuisine. Secondly, you’ll be shown how to prepare all the ingredients also
how to cook. During the class the instructor still teach you intentionally step by step. After the 1st menu is done, you’ll be given a time to taste how delicious is your food.
11.00hrs. : Continue cooking the 2nd dish that needs about 30 minutes to finishing including preparing, cooking and tasting.
11.30hrs. : Take a small break for about 15 minutes for some tea, coffee or herbal drinks ( complimentary ) by the school). Or students can spend time to walk around seeing herbal & vegetable plantations as well as different kinds of fruits like Longan, Mango, Rose Apple, Guava,
Lychees & Jack Fruit.
12.00hrs. : Back to the class again for the 3rd and the 4th dishes (normally the Thai Curry &Dessert).
12.40hrs. : Some steamed rice will be served with curry then follow by a dessert.
13.20hrs. : When the class is over, cook books in English version with color pictures will be given to all students.
13.00hrs. : Thanks and say bye to each other then transfer back to the hotel and free at leisure time . Overnight in Chiang Mai
Day 6 : Chiang Mai departure ( B )
After breakfast , let’s relax till transfer out to Chiang Mai Airport for departure flight to Bangkok or onwards destination .
