ANZAC DAY – 25th April is one of Australia’s most important national occasions. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. The acronym ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, whose soldiers were known as Anzacs. Each year on 25th April , ANZAC Day in Kanchanaburi , Thailand is commemorated by conducting a Dawn Service and Gunfire Breakfast at Hellfire pass and a Memorial Service and Wreath Laying Ceremony at Kanchanaburi War Cemetery
ITINERARY :
Day 1 : April 24th , 2020 : Thai - Burma Railway Center- Allied War Cemetery-Bridge over the River Kwai ( L/D )
07.00hrs. : Pick up from major hotel in Bangkok in city area depart to Kanchanaburi Province ( 128km. to the west of Bangkok )
09.00hrs. : Arrive Kanchanaburi Province . First stop at Nong Pladuk Train Station the first train line of Death Railway Train during World War II, the Japanese used Allied prisoners of war to build a railway from Thailand to Burma so they could supply their army without the dangers of sending supplies by sea. Many prisoners died under appalling conditions during its construction, and the line became known as the “ Death Railway “ Further to Thailand-Burma Railway Center an interactive museum, information and research facility dedicated to presenting the history of the Thailand-Burmar Railway . The fully air-conditioned center offers the visitor an educational and moving experience . Visit Allied War Cemetery which is memorial to some 6000 allied prisoners of war ( POWs ) who perished along the death railway line and were move post-war to this eternal resting place . Then visit the world famous Bridge over the River Kwai , a part of Death Railway constructed by Allied POWs .
10.30hrs.: Take a historic ride on the “ Death Railway Train” passing over original wooden viaduct constructed by Allied POWs
12.00hrs.: Lunch at local restaurant watching view point return train pass by
13.30hrs.: After lunch continue to “The Hell Fire Pass Memorial Museum “
15.00hrs.: Arrive The Hell Fire Pass Memorial Museum , built and maintained by the Australian government, is located just above Hellfire Pass (Konyu Cutting). Opened in 1998, it is dedicated to the Allied prisoners of war and Asian labourers who suffered and died at Hellfire Pass and elsewhere in the Asia Pacific region during World War II.
16.30hrs.: Check in hotel and free at leisure time
19.00hrs.: ANZAC Dinner Event ( subject to availability first come first serve basis ) . We don’t have much activity on this night as you’ll have to attend Dawn Service Commemoration on early next morning ( early night )

DAY 2 : APRIL 25th , 2020 : ANZAC DAY - DAWN SERVICES AT COMMEMORATIVE SITE ( B/L )
03.15hrs.: Early morning departing resort to Hellfire Pass
04.15hrs.: Arrive Hellfire Pass ( Konyu Cutting ) walk down into Konyu Cutting
05.30hrs.: Observance commence “ Dawn Services Commemoration “ and lasts about 30minutes.
06.30hrs.: Gunfire Breakfast , on completion of the Dawn Service in Kunyu Cutting , enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee with traditional ANZAC Biscuits and a lot of Bundaberg Rum at the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum will be served after the commemoration finished .
07.30hrs.: Return back to resort for your hearty breakfast . Free time and preparing to check out
09.00hrs.: Check out and leave resort to Allied War Cemetery to attend the wreath-laying ceremony
10.00hrs.: Memorial Wreath – Laying Service commences at 11.00hrs. and lasts approximately 50 – 60 minutes . Cold water available at all time upon requested cause it will be hot weather in April during ceremony
12.30hrs.: Lunch at local restaurant walking distance from War Cemetery
14.00hrs.: Departing Kanchanaburi to Bangkok would take around 2.30-3hrs. depending on traffic
16.30hrs.: Arrive back to Bangkok and transfer to your hotel

- Deviations of the tour programs or time given may sometimes necessary depending on traffic condition or uncontrollable circumstances . The journey back to Bangkok may be later than 18.00hrs. . Please make sure you leave ample of time when planning other trips / flights / trains after the tour .
- Walking into the site takes approximately 20 minutes via steps and along the old railway line . The track along the old railway line is rocky and uneven in area and suitable footwear is highly recommended . The area has very limited seating arrangements and the ground has large Sharpe stones as a covering .
